A candlestick chart displays price movement over a time period — the open, high, low and close as a single 'candle' — and it's the foundation most manual and algorithmic trading is built on.
Can AI actually improve a trading strategy?+
AI and machine learning can help surface patterns in historical market data, but a model is only as good as its data and validation process, and no model, however built, can guarantee future returns.
What's the risk of overfitting a trading model?+
Overfitting happens when a model is tuned so closely to historical data that it looks great in backtests but fails on new, unseen data — it's one of the most common and costly mistakes in building automated strategies.
Do backtests prove a strategy will work going forward?+
No — a backtest shows how a strategy would have performed on past data, not how it will perform going forward; market conditions change, and past performance never guarantees future results.
